If you’re pregnant you’re probably wondering if laser hair removal is a safe option? We don’t recommend it, what-so-ever! However, sugaring, meaning waxing with sugar wax is pefectly safe. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t enjoy smooth skin anywhere you desire during your pregnancy.

During pregnancy your body produces more progesterone (a hormone which prepares the uterus for pregnancy and the breasts for milk production) which results in darker, thicker  hair, especially around the abdominal area and down the navel. This occurs even if you’ve never had hair growth in these areas before. Because the sugar wax does not have any chemicals, it’s actually edible, that’s right edible, it is safe to use to wax unsightly hair.

As the trimesters progress, so do the sensitivities of pregnant women (such as emotional and physical). Even though using a sugar wax is safe, you should start by testing out if you’ll be sensitive by waxing the smallest area, if you find it too painful, or find that the skin becomes irritated, than opt for another hair removal method (as long as it’s not laser hair removal). However, most of our pregnant clients have raved about using sugar waxes at home to remove unsightly hair. As a matter of fact, thousands upon thousands of woman have used sugar waxes to remove unwanted hair, up to their delivery dates, with no known side effects of problems.

Let’s go over some advantages of sugaring:

  • Sugaring is less painful than waxing, because the sugar mixture only sticks to the hair, not the skin.
  • If you’re using fabric strips, you can than wash off these fabric strips for furture use. Of course, recycling fabric strips is only safe if you’re using these strips on yourself and not sharing them with others; regardless of you washing them off.
  • You can make it yourself, and heat it up in small batches, as needed.
  • It is highly unluckly that sugaring will cause irritations or allergic reactions.

You can heat up the sugar mixture in an cooking safe jar, place it in a pot until the water boils, once the sugar substance is smooth it’s safe to use. Visit our skin care treatments tv channel for a recipe on how to make your own sugar wax.
